Interim and New Panther Express Buses
We’re excited to announce that, as part of the follow through on the Parking and Transportation Master Plan that was completed in the summer of 2012, Auxiliary and Support Services worked recently to obtain proposals for a new agreement for Panther Express services to include a new fleet of Panther Express buses. The new agreement for Panther Express services will begin on July 1, 2013, with MV Transportation, Inc.
Effective with the first day of services on July 1, 2013, an interim replacement fleet of Panther Express shuttles will be on campus providing services on the Panther Express routes. The interim fleet of vehicles will be white with Panther Express logos on the sides. They will be utilized during the next several months while a completely new fleet of Panther Express vehicles is being manufactured.

New Buses for Fall 2014
Within the new fleet of Panther Express vehicles that are being assembled, targeted to be available by or before Fall Semester 2014, will be fifteen new Eldorado National E-Z Rider II BRT, state-of-the art, heavy-duty buses, along with four smaller cutaway style vehicles. These new buses will include a kneeling feature that lowers the buses to street level, making boarding and departing the buses much easier and faster and greatly improving the ease of boarding and departures for persons in wheelchairs. The new buses will include automatic passenger counting and significantly improved heating and air-conditioning among other improvements. An added safety feature will be an on-board camera system called “DriveCam” to enable addressing any detected unsafe driver behaviors, allowing corrections in such behaviors to be made to improve the prevention of accidents from occurring.
Remember, the interim Panther Express fleet arrives next week, as the next step toward to an entirely new fleet, due just months ahead. For additional information, please contact Mike Sproston, Director of Parking and Transportation, at 404-413-9514.
